I'm a huge Takeshi Obata fan (Hikaru no Go and Death Note are my favorite manga!) and I've been meaning to check out Bakuman for some time but like you, I'm not the hugest fan of "low-intensity" stories (great term btw). But seems like you enjoyed it and I've been thinking that maybe I should switch to some lighter stories as I have been reading really depressing books lately.
